HOW LOW WILL THEY GO?
With the economy going south more and more Americans are opting for stay-cations. I laugh when each morning I turn on my computer only to find a gazillion emails from cruise lines, travel agents and dot coms trying to entice me to travel all over the globe for the low, low price of $799 per person which includes air fare, gratuities, on-board credits and special room amenities. Am I interested? Absolutely! However, like the limbo, the refrain keeps echoing in my head “How low can they go?” Should I wait for stock options, free Louis Vuitton luggage or the Captain’s suite?
Confusion now reigns in our house. Originally, my husband, The Crabby Old Guy and I had planned to take a Baltic Cruise. Then the rates started bottoming out on Australia and Asia and we were beginning to have second thoughts on the Baltic. Each day these “one day specials” flood my inbox and our itinerary keeps changing.
As I started to research all of the destinations I came across an amazing website that I thought I would share with all of you. http://travmed.com is definitely a site you want to add to your favorites. Dr. Stuart Rose, an Emergency Room doctor adds his expertise in travel outside the United States. He lists “destination advisories for over 200 countries. Each Destination Advisory includes entry requirements, time zone and current weather, vaccination recommendations and requirements, disease risks summary and malaria maps, outbreak news, and hospital and doctor listings” and it’s updated weekly. He also includes all the embassies in each country.
Hope this is as helpful to you as it is to me.
Hugs,
The Savvy Old Lady
